Management of Menopause Type® Seminar

Module F: Implement, Evaluate & Reassess

Implement Treatment- Evaluate Outcomes- Reassess State of Wellness

Improved Patient Outcomes

Improved patient outcomes are directly dependent on the aforementioned continuity of care and on comprehensive health care.

Furthermore, improved clinical outcomes are possible only when the subjective symptoms are managed to the patient's satisfaction, thereby enhancing her quality of life.

Likewise, improved clinical outcomes are conditional on the management of objective signs to the degree that they decrease morbidity and mortality.

So the four components of a plan, fall into two major categories; treating subjective symptoms, and treating objective signs.

Treat Subjective Symptoms

Protocols Based only on Subjective Data

Protocols to Manage Specific Symptoms

Treat Objective Signs

Protocols Based on Objective Data

Protocols to Support Body Systems

Implementing the treatment plan, evaluating patient outcomes and continually reassessing the state of wellness will obviously require multiple sessions.

Planning the components of a session before hand will significantly aid in achieving improved patient outcomes.

Components of a Session:

Having agreed that no condition is managed in a single visit, it is clear that the elements of the S.O.A.P.I.E.R. model require more than one session for improved patient outcomes.

Comprehensive Physical Exam

Menopause Type®. Questionnaire

Hormone Tests

Correlative Interpretation of MTQ & Lab Tests

The individual components of each session may include various components of the S.O.A.P.I.E.R. model.

Advanced Interpretation of MTQ

Address Chief Complaints

Treat Subjective Symptoms

Some clinical sessions with the patient may include all of the listed components, and others may include only a few, depending upon the individual needs of the patient.

Make Treatment Recommendations

Treat Subjective Symptoms

Treat Objective Signs

Risk Assessments

While the components of each session may vary, they are all carried out with the ultimate goal of improved patient outcomes.

The clinical applications for each session will also affect patient outcomes.

Clinical Applications

Comprehensive Physical Exam

Interpreting the MTQ

Though it is unlikely that all clinical applications will take place during each session, some components will be a routine part of every session.

Serum Hormone Tests

Salivary Hormone Tests

Urine Hormone Tests

Choosing Hormone Tests

Correlative Interpretation

Function-Response Model

These common components include the need to survey symptoms with the MTQ, using protocols to manage specific symptoms and addressing continuity of care.

Advanced Interpretation of MTQ

Protocols to Manage Specific Symptoms

Some of the clinical applications may only be in a session once a year

Protocols Based only on Subjective Data

Protocols Based on Objective Data

Important components of menopause care include: Annual Physical Examination

Annual Osteoporosis Risk Assessment

Annual Cardiovascular Risk Assessment

Annual Cancer Risk Assessment

Osteoporosis

Cardiovascular Disease

Cancer Risks

Protocols to Support Body Systems

Continuity of Care

Collectively the components of a session and the clinical applications provide the tools required for positive patient incomes.

The model to implement, evaluate & reassess the Management of Menopause Type®.plan is based on serial visits to a clinician's practice for twelve consecutive sessions.

In this model, the twelve sessions occur over a two-year period. The practice of this model absolutely requires customization to the unique needs of each patient.

Note: From "Session 1" through "Session 12" and beyond, let this model serve as a guide, which you will naturally modify to meet the unique needs and style of your practice.
