Managing Your Menopause Type® Educational Class

Session Three - Your Risks of Disease

INSULIN RESISTANCE & DIABETES

Herbal Support

There are a number of herbs that may be used to promote ideal glucose and insulin function. These herbs work best after the nutritional needs (proper macronutrients and micronutrients) have already been met.

HERBS:

Fenugreek Seed
(Trigonella foenum-graecum)

Fenugreek seeds can improve glucose metabolism and can be useful in the management of diabetes. [1]

Bitter Gourd Fruit
(Momordica charantia)

Bitter gourd fruit can improve glucose tolerance and lower both fasting blood sugar levels and blood sugar levels after a glucose challenge. [2, 3, 4]

Gymnema Leaf
(Gymnema sylvestre)

Gymnema leaf may cause  a drop in glucose levels in Type 2 diabetes and may enhance endogenous insulin, possibly by regeneration/revitalization of the residual beta cells in insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus. [5, 6]
